It was livid but wounded. She was brave and saw the buffalo's raisin & strawberry soul behind its velvety & dense mantle. She took care of it and the blood of the wounds blessed the soil with prosperity.
Indonesia is a fascinating country for its diversity in food, religion, landscape, language, and of course, coffee. During the last 5 years, there has been a tremendous shift in the quality produced by smallholder farmers in collaboration with wet-and-dry mills. As domestic coffee consumption increases and locals are demanding higher quality products, so do coffee producers by focussing more on producing exceptional coffee.
Asman Arianto is one of the champion producers of this years C.O.E. (Cup Of Excellence) competition in Indonesia.
Asman is originally from Palembang, South Sumatra but has been living and working in Aceh Tengah for the past 21 years. In fact, most of the farmers in this area are transmigrants, many from Java and North Sumatra.
Though he originally collected and processed standard wet-hulled quality coffee, Asman Arianto decided to switch entirely to the production of cherry-sourced fully washed, honey and natural process.
After going through a rigorous selection process, the cherries are sun-dried on raised beds and covered patios.
